    Artist Statement, February 2009

I can't be sure what drew me to so forcefully to photography as a means of expression, but what do I know is that I strive to present pictures of the commonplace man-made landscape as beautiful objects. In my work, they are made so by the working of time, natural forces, and light. Where some photograph the influence of man on natural landscapes, I see the influence of nature on our constructed landscapes. Often I see geometries, textures or forms of light that are surprising and I that find pleasing. There is something supremely satisfying in being able to capture those fleeting places and moments where the elements converge on making something appear as so much more than was intended. I hope you sense in these images what I saw originally in the serendipitous assemblies of this constructed and deconstructed landscape.
